Adventure in Monterey, California

Monterey, California Travel Stops

If you read our tips on How to: Plan Girls Trip to Monterey, CA here is a look into where we adventured off to this year!

As I mentioned, we each picked a place we wanted to go during our trip. In addition to our three suggestions, some of our other favorite locations are listed at the bottom.

Marie’s Choice: Plume’s Coffee & Tea

Our coffee addictions always seem to get the best of us, so Marie’s choice was a local coffee place called Plume’s. The coffee shop had a chill vibe and was very welcoming.

Ena’s Choice: Fisherman’s Wharf

Exploring the shops and finding some unexpected must-haves (according to us!) sometimes tends to take us by surprise. Including realizing that two-thirds of the group left their sunglasses at home and sunny Monterey cannot be explored without protection. We also had a delicious lunch at Scales with a great view out to the water!

Jenna’s  Choice: Whale watching

We bought tickets for the Princess Monterey Whale Watching Tour on Sunday morning at 9 AM. We were able to see a family of four Gray Whales and watched them do their thing as they migrated down south.

Must-Have: Pinkberry, our devastating discovery

Every time we go to Monterey we go to Pinkberry (because they closed the one in our town) however, this location was also recently CLOSED. We were heartbroken to find our spot had closed down, so we took some time to sit on the steps pouting and reminiscing about the good ol’ days. A few passersby and fellow Pinkberry connoisseurs even stopped and chatted with us as we broke the news of the store closing. Our sadness eventually led us to a small, local wine tasting bar where we entertained the staff with our sadness. They made some great suggestions of other ice cream or yogurt shops but nothing could fill the Pinkberry shaped hole in our hearts.

More great stops to make:

  • Monterey Bay Aquarium
  • Schooners Coastal Kitchen & Bar
  • Monterey's Tasty Olive Bar
  • Carmel Ridge Wine Tasting Room
  • Turn 12 Restaurant
  • 17 mile drive (not quite in Monterey but definitely worth it)

If you have any favorite spots we haven't mentioned in Monterey we would love to have you share them with us in the comments below- we'll add them to our list for next year!
