Interview: Marie Leon

We think it's important for you to know us. Check out Marie's answers to our questions.

Who is someone you admire, and why?

My Grandmother, she loves unconditionally and truly cares about my well being. She is strong, kind, and would never tell you what hardships she went through. She doesn't believe in playing the victim.

She makes me happy and proud to be her granddauther.

What are three of your pet peeves?

  1. Being called Maria
  2. When you open the door for someone and not only do they not thank you, they also glide straight past you as if people should open doors for them.
  3. Broken Promises

Do you have any skills or talents that most people don’t know?

Well, I can play the violin. No, I won't play for you.

I can also drink an insane amount of coffee. (but that may be corporate americas doing.)

If you could be anywhere other than here, right this minute, where would you be? (Don’t overthink it!)

Home. Under a blanket on my chair watching one of the many tv shows, we have on our DVR with Alex. Home.

Flashback to when you were ten years old. What do you want to be when you grow up?

I wanted to be a teacher.

If we went to happy hour, what would you order?

Depends on the location and what they are good at. Wine, Margaritas, and IPAs are at the top of the list.

Finish this sentence. On Sunday mornings, you can usually find me…

Blogging, and avoiding the laundry.

Name three words that you describe you.

  1. Patient
  2. Enthusiastic
  3. Coffee Addict (Yes I know that's more than 3)

N'sync or Backstreet Boys?

Backstreets boys hands down. "Because I want it that way..."

Favorite TV Show?

  • Law and Order SUV
  • This is US
  • Gilmore Girls

I could watch reruns of these shows for days.

What do you think are the best skills that you bring to your job?

  • Positivity

  • Patience

  • Willingness to learn

My positivity! It's no secret that I love my job. I work in marketing for an accounting firm and love every moment of it. While I haven't been on the team long, I feel that my can-do attitude can make any task bearable!

What do you want to make sure you do before you die?

Visit another country.

What are you happiest doing, when you’re not working?

I like to cook. It brings me a lot of joy to cook for other people. It's absolutely fun for me.

What do you do with friends in your spare time?

Blog, make food, plan our next adventure, and drink wine.

What would be your personal motto?

"Have Fun" - I say this a lot and I say it often. I believe that you should do things that make you happy no matter what that is and you should have fun too. :)

You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?

Princess pink….because I am a motherfucking princess. Like what kind of question is that?

We finish the interview, and you step outside the office and find out the lottery ticket you bought earlier that day just won you $10 million. What would you do?

Pay off the ridiculous amount of student debt I have. Pay the taxes. And Make a plan for the remaining amount. (have you noticed... I like lists (plans). )

What do you think about when you’re alone in your car?

I think about how fast my guardian angel has to fly every time I drive. I sing A LOT when I'm alone in my car. It's like my version of singing in the shower.

What’s your favorite ’90s jam?

No Scrubs - TLC

If you could be any animal in the world, what animal would you be and why?

A snuggly orange tabby, because what life could be more perfect?

What inspires you?

By yoga and running. I typically do these activities alone. Giving me 30-60mins of alone time. Maybe more if I get lost on a run! It's time to think, reflect, and refresh my ideas.

By off-line conversations. You can't hug or hear someone laugh over text.

By problems. All things must be solved eventually. You just need to take the time to figure out how. The feeling when you do solve them is very satisifying.

By my sister. Her free spirit is fearless.

By myself. I aim to just do one thing better than yesterday, daily.
